Peter Gosling

Peter has successfully turned dreams into reality. With an adventurous spirit and a love for the outdoors, Peter now shares his tangible passion for adventure with others as Director and Chief Pathfinder of True North Journeys.

Peter has been exploring the unexplored for the past 10 years. These adventures have led him to accomplish many achievements including multiple climbs in the New Zealand Southern Alps, a successful summit of Mt Cook, multiple crossings of the Kokoda Track and pioneering little known routes across New Guinea and East New Britain. While Peter, who is based in Brisbane, Queensland, spends a good deal of each year exploring the lesser known places of the world, one of his favourite locations remains as Papua New Guinea.

"My connection with East New Britain and PNG originates from my parents who met and lived in Rabaul and the Duke and York Island for 15 years. My mother was a teacher on the church missions and my father a plantation manager."

This connection, along with a desire to understand the past, has seen Peter pioneer and develop select routes through East New Britain - routes that have both cultural and historical significance - the latter especially to Australians as PNG was the location of many WW2 battles that would eventually shape Australia as a nation. With proven experience in outdoor leadership, rock climbing, mountaineering and trekking, Peter now shares his love for PNG with others wanting to experience the uniqueness of some of the most remote and untouched wilderness in the world.

“At times you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you discover is wonderful. What you discover is yourself. “

Over the years, Peter has gained considerable experience in leading others through unique wilderness treks. Through extensive planning and research along with key relationship based local contacts, Peter has developed a truly unique experience for anyone wanting to take a journey to a destination somewhere....
